    Position Summary

    As Commis Chef with the Macallan Estate Experience, you will be part of the team that delivers the entire culinary experience across the Estate. This is a chance to train under and be inspired by a Head chef with multi-Michelin experience. We are in search of an ambitious chef with positive and approachable manner who enjoys the fast pace of working in a busy kitchen. We are looking for someone with basic understanding of kitchen operation, huge passion for food and willingness to learn, you will be working under close supervision and all training will be provided on the job.

    Job Description

    As a key member, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen by assisting with various culinary tasks. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with the culinary team in the meticulous preparation of ingredients to uphold the highest culinary standards
  • Upholding impeccable standards of cleanliness and hygiene to guarantee a safe and sanitary kitchen environment
  • Managing inventory by effectively rotating food, receiving and organising deliveries, and maintaining accurate stock levels
  • Precision in measuring ingredients and portion sizing to ensure consistency and quality in every dish
  • Actively engaging in ongoing learning and implementation of food safety techniques to uphold industry standards
  • Contributing to mise en place by skillfully chopping vegetables, organizing ingredients, and partially cooking certain items to streamline service
  • Demonstrating unwavering compliance with all food hygiene, health, and safety regulations, including HACCP, COSHH, and other pertinent protocols
  • Vigilantly maintaining cleanliness and organization in all work areas to prevent cross-contamination and ensure operational efficiency
  • Skills and Experience

    To be successful in this role, you have proficiency in fundamental cookery techniques, demonstrating a solid foundation in culinary skills. Familiarity with essential culinary terminology and proficient use of kitchen equipment to ensure efficient operations. Strong interpersonal abilities, facilitating seamless collaboration with both kitchen and front-of-house teams, as well as effective communication with management. A comprehensive understanding of safe food handling practices and adeptness in food rotation procedures to maintain freshness and quality. A personable and professional demeanor, consistently delivering exceptional service with a welcoming attitude. Effective problem-solving skills, enabling quick and practical resolutions to challenges encountered in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
