- Origination and approval of customer artwork and associated packaging material specifications.
- Design, development and approval of packaging solutions and associated packaging material specifications to fulfil the customers' requirements in line with equipment and tooling capabilities and ensuring that they meet PCI requirements for Safety, Quality, Delivery and Costs and meet the requirements of all stakeholders, including regulators when considering labelling and safe packing of hazardous materials.
- Maintenance of the material specification database, this is to include the generation, recording, filing & archiving of withdrawn / superseded Packaging Documentation (Material Specifications, Label Specifications & related Documents).
- Creation of Serialisation labels (including liaising with US team to obtain approval and conversion to Zebra format).
- Maintenance of the component development and artwork origination ways of working including, but not limited to databases, templates, SOP's and training.
- Work in conjunction with Purchasing team to identify preferred suppliers for packaging materials.
- Responsible for aligning all new packaging materials to equipment capabilities thus ensuring efficiency is maximised but quality is maintained.
- In conjunction with Production, Engineering and Technical Operations participate in Continuous Improvement Projects as required, including all OEE projects to ensure improved efficiencies, reduced waste and cost.
- The job holder is responsible for adhering to PCI SOPs, Health & Safety, GMP and other regulatory guidelines.
- GMP understanding is essential for this role.

- Undertake the maintenance and repair of plant and/or office facilities and associated utilities at the PCI Tredegar sites.
- Fully contributing to planned preventative maintenance programs whilst adhering to SOP's and completing necessary documentation ensuring skilled judgements are made to ensure plant is maintained to optimum level.
- Monitor performance of critical utilities and process equipment in cGMP environment and perform or arrange necessary repairs, adjustments, calibrations, and preventative maintenance, including maintaining appropriate documentation.
- Liaise with onsite departments to arrange for planned preventative maintenance / rectification work required for breakdowns.
- Liaise with third party contractors in order to arrange for planned preventative maintenance / rectification work required for breakdowns and to then ensure the prompt return of associated reports.
- Without supervision promptly attending Facility / utility breakdowns, practice's systematic fault diagnosis and repairs in optimum time, ensuring minimum downtime and product loss.
- To comply with company policies, local, UK and global regulatory requirements including internal and external Health, Safety and Environmental standards at all times whilst completing tasks.
- Assist with the management of vendors, routine equipment repair and maintenance for site facilities and utilities.
- Assist in the coordinate equipment requisitions with internal departments for building services requirements and carry out equipment and furniture installations.
- Assist in ensuring any DR, CCR, and actions are completed within the required timescale.

- Provide training, support and direction to trainees / apprentices when required ensuring professional standards of workmanship and competence are achieved.

- Previous experience in an Engineering role.
- Ideally pharmaceutical and/or FMCG manufacturing environment covering mechanical, electrical and utilities.
- Educated to a minimum of GCSE standard or successfully complete a four-year indentured apprenticeship.
- Reasonable understanding of Health and Safety issues related to Engineering activities.
- Understanding of GMP is desirable.

The role
This role is responsible for providing a packaging & artwork development service for PCI Pharma in line with business needs. This includes, but is not limited to packaging materials and specifications, design of appropriate packaging, origination, control and approval of artwork to meet both internal and client requirements. In addition, you will play a part in the creation of serialisation labels and supporting serialisation activities in line with role.
