Description
We are currently recruiting for a fully qualified (ACCA or ACA) Financial Accountantto join our client, FBN Bank (UK) Limited in March 2023 on a permanent/full time basis.
FBN Bank is a subsidiary of the First Bank of Nigeria - the largest and most respected banking institution in Nigeria and have branches in London and Paris, and Representative Office in Lagos and Abuja.
Purpose of the role:
To support the Head of Operations and Head of Financial Control and provide back-up Financial Reporting Manager on Financial Reporting including statutory accounts, audit and taxation; Suspense and Nostro accounts' reconciliation; FBNL Group reporting; ALCOreporting and Projects.
Primary Responsibilities of Role:
- Assist in the production of statutory accounts in compliance with UK GAAP and IFRS
- Assist Head of Financial Control with coordination of interim and annual audits
- Contribute to completion of corporation tax, CT61, VAT, FATCA and SECT1
- Play a leading role in completion of FBNL Group reporting and provide backup support to Financial Reporting Manger as necessary
- Preparation of monthly ALCO reports
- Preparation of supplier expense analysis for the OPEX pack
- Daily / weekly reporting of Profit & Loss and Statement of Financial Position, carrying out analysis and investigation as required.
- Monitoring the impact of revaluation and assisting Treasury with managing foreign currency exposures through derivatives.
- Preparation of month end journals: Salary costs, prepaid expenses, provisions for expenses and depreciation.
- Managing the fixed asset schedule, ensuring assets are capitalised and depreciated correctly.
- Balance sheet, suspense and internal accounts' reconciliations
- Support accounts payable process and staff loan maintenance
- Support Head of Financial Control in preparation and annual review of general accounting policies and procedures
- Support Regulatory Reporting team with inputs for completion of Common Reporting
- Investigation on outstanding transactions on Nostro and Nosbra accounts
- Reviewing system generated financial reports for correctness e.g., GL, P&L, Customer Balance report, Limit utilization reports, Loans report, Revaluation report, etc.
- Assisting in the external audit, gathering supporting documentation and responding to audit queries.
Skills/Experience required
- Fully qualified accountant
- ACCA / ACA
- 5 years (minimum) accountancy experience within Banking or financial services.
- Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Commercial awareness, with strong analytical skills.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
