    Job Advert Location Description

    We have an excellent full time opportunity to work as a Consultant Psychiatrist on our Featherstone unit.

    Priory is the UK's largest independent provider of Mental Health Services and Priory Cheadle Royal Hospital is a specialist provider of complex mental health services, providing clinical excellence across 13 wards which include acute adult wards, Eating Disorder Service, CAMHS, Rehabilitation, Acute and PICU services. Situated on Wilmslow road with easy transport links.

    Featherstone is a 10 bed Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for adult male patients who are in the acute phase of a severe mental illness, complicated with a high risk profile to themselves or others.

    The service also treats patients with dual diagnoses and those with a complex presentation. Featherstone works with a full MDT of different disciplines to offer assessment and treatment of each patient's mental illness and overall wellbeing, involving the patient, family and community team in this program ensuring an appropriate discharge pathway is in place.

    The teams consist of a Consultant Psychiatrist, Speciality Doctor, Clinical Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Registered Mental Health Nurses and experienced Healthcare Assistants who form the Multidisciplinary teams.

    Job Advert Role Description

    Your role will include:

    Clinical:


    • Working as the Consultant and Responsible Clinician as part of the MDT


    • Take overall responsibility for patient care and treatment plans in conjunction with the MDT


    • Timely assessment of referrals along with the MDT


    • Conducting Comprehensive Assessments and Treatment planning with patients, external stake holders and carers.


    • Chairing MDT/CPA Meetings; Adhering to organisational admission and discharge policy and procedures.


    • Timely discharge GP notifications and discharge summaries.


    • To contribute to the unit governance through expertise and leadership.


    • Prepare and supervise reports for Mental Health Act Review Tribunals & Managers Hearings alongside giving evidence within these meetings.


    • Participate in a 1:3 non-resident second on call out of hours rota

    Management:


    • Offering Clinical Leadership in collaboration with Ward Manager


    • Ensuring Ward is complaint with Organisational and Regulatory requirements


    • Attending ward governance meetings with ward manager


    • Working with organisational quality improvement (QPIs) initiatives


    • Attending Monthly governance meetings.

    Academic:


    • Attending monthly Academic meetings


    • Case presentations and teaching


    • Participation in audit, research, quality improvement initiatives perks of working for Priory

    Post requirements


    • MBBS or Equivalent Medical Degree and MRCPsych


    • Full GMC registration with license to practice


    • Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, along with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Practice


    • Committed to continued professional development


    • Desirable to have had significant experience of inpatient mental health acute units.


    • Able to work collaboratively as a part of a multi-disciplinary team
