    This role presents a rare opportunity for an Information Governance Lead and General Practice Data Protection Officer (DPO) within South West London ICB.

    We are looking for an outstanding Information Governance specialist who is, innovative, dynamic, highlymotivated, highlycompetent,andresilient.

    The ideal candidate will have excellent political aptitude; be a strong and experienced leader and have a proven track record of delivering against objectives. They will exercise sound judgement, providing advice that is routed in robust evidence and experience and will build strong relationships across the ICB and become a trusted member of the team.

    Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of the Data Protection Officer role for GP practices (Including Primary Care Network and GP Federations) and will deputise for the Head of Patient Information as required. In deputising for the head of department in their IG function the post holder will assist to ensure the ICB delivers both an efficient, effective, high quality, professional and well-coordinated Information Governance service capable of meeting all statutory, regulatory and NHS Requirements. The role will be responsible for work that is highly complex in nature and will have involvement from a range of organisations, services, stakeholders at a regional and national level. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and management of data protection legislation agenda and work collaboratively across the health landscape with PCNs, GP Practices and other organisation to provide a professional and effective Data Protection Officer role. The postholder will be required to have regular contact with both internal and external stakeholders and will often need to engage with them over sensitive, complex, contentious, and confidential issues, to achieve agreement or co-operation and remove barriers to understanding.

    Education / Qualifications

    Essential

  • Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area.
  • Practitioner certificate in Data Protection or Certified Data Protection Officer
  • ISEB Information Security Management Principles qualification or equivalent
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Member of relevant professional body
  • Knowledge and Experience

    Essential

  • Must be able to provide and receive highly complex, sensitive or contentious information, negotiate with senior stakeholders on difficult and controversial issues, and present complex and sensitive information to large and influential groups
  • Significant experience of delivering Information Governance and DPO services at a senior level
  • Demonstrable experience of managing Information Governance, Freedom of Information Act requests and Data Subject Access requests in a complex organisation
  • Demonstrated senior experience of working in a PALS and Complaints role.
  • Significant experience of communicating with a wide range of people and in varied, sometimes challenging. Circumstances

  • Problem solving skills and ability to respond to sudden unexpected demands
  • Previously responsible for a budget, involved in budget setting and working knowledge of financial processes

  • Intermediate (or advanced) Keyboard skill - ability to use Microsoft Office package at intermediate (or advanced) level.

  • Demonstrated capability to plan over short, medium and long-term timeframes and adjust plans and resource requirements accordingly;
