The post holder will provide comprehensive administration and information services within the Prison Healthcare Department of the Health & Justice Business Unit.


You will work as part of the administration team to provide high quality clerical, administrative, minute taking and reception duties for the physical health, mental health and substance misuse services.

The post holder will provide excellent administration and communication skills and work flexibly in response to the service needs.

They will provide day to day support to the physical health, mental health and substance misuse teams, supporting them in the delivery of a Gold Standard level of patient care.


  • To receive and deal with all incoming telephone calls and be first point of contact.
  • Provide a comprehensive administrative service which can include the compilation of reports.
  • Attend and participate in team and administrative service meetings as required.
  • Take and transcribe minutes and action tracker as required and cascade to internal and external delegates.
  • Liaise with prison wings and officers. Ensure that confidentiality of information is preserved at all times.
  • To manage and coordinate diaries and arrange meetings.
  • To deal with a variety of administration tasks including photocopying, faxing, ordering stationery, scanning and typing.


You will be required to work flexibly within the core business hours and take day-to-day responsibility for providing administrative support to physical, mental health and substance misuse clinicians within the offender health business unit.


The post holder is required to make decisions and judgements concerning information received in order to prioritise and refer on to the appropriate staff/department, or take appropriate action within pre-agreed boundaries.


Plan and organise own time, manage and prioritise own workload, use initiative and judgement when communicating with managers, clinicians, staff representatives or external contacts to resolve problems.
