Overview
My client is seeking an experienced lawyer for the position of Legal Counsel.
The UK Legal Counsel will be primarily responsible for supporting business operations legal needs with respect to commercial, compliance, and regulatory matters, and be responsible for handling day to day legal issues.
Responsibilities
Support the Directors and board on internal projects including reporting, training, and risk management activities.
Provide accurate, relevant, and timely advice that is business-focused / innovative on a variety of legal matters, along with contributing to developing / implementing the strategy
Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of agreements, including supplier, property, independent contractor, customer, software, license, and other commercial agreements.
Anticipate and mitigate potential legal problems within the organisation and develop strategies to avoid costly litigation and reduce potential areas of risk.
Ensure that the company conducts its business in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Participate in the definition and development of corporate policies, procedures and programs and provide continuing counsel and guidance on legal matters.
Providing proactive privacy, cybersecurity, data protection and regulatory compliance advice.
Developing long-term strategies with senior management to keep all company operations within legal spheres.
Reviewing marketing materials, websites & presentations to ensure compliance with regulations
- Assisting in gathering of info internally in response to requests by external and regulatory organisations

- Supplier audits compliance
Monitoring the organisation's compliance with regulations and internal policies to ensure they are up to date with the relevant laws.
Recording their findings properly and following up with management to ensure the issues are rectified.
Monitoring changes to government guidelines or regulations and submitting reports on pertinent changes, supporting ad hoc across the business where needed.
Requirements:
- A relevant Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent
- A UK qualified lawyer who is eligible to practice as a Solicitor throughout the UK
- Significant legal PQE experience
- In house legal experience
- Experience of internal and external stakeholder management building and owning relationships
- Experience working on matters of corporate governance and with a board of directors.
- Good organisational, prioritisation and timemanagement skills
- Excellent communication, presentation, and people skills
