    Job summary

    Blackwater Medical Centre has a fantastic opportunity for a physician associate (PA) to join our team on a full-time or part-time basis, as the hours of work can be flexible.

    You will be working alongside a multi-disciplinary, general practice team to meet the needs of the patient, managing clinical cases (mostly minor illnesses) and to be able to deal with presenting patient needs within a primary care setting.

    Main duties of the job

  • Working under the supervision of a GP, providing a holistic approach including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to deliver high-quality patient services in the home or practice.
  • Work closely together and as part of a wider multi-disciplinary workforce including, GPs, pharmacists, nurses, and social prescribers.
  • Use advanced clinical skills to provide education to patients and service users, promoting self-care and empowering them to make informed choices about their treatment.
  • Assess, diagnose, treat, refer, or signpost patients with undifferentiated or undiagnosed conditions relating to minor illness or injury, supported by senior clinicians as needed.

    Person Specification

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • A postgraduate degree in Physician Associate Studies from an accredited PA programme;
  • Membership of the Faculty of Physician Associates at the RCP, which includes UK Physician Associate Registration (the PA Managed Voluntary Register);
  • Current and valid certification or re-certification by the UK Physician Associate National Examination.
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Experience including preventative medicine and chronic disease management;
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to a varied and high-volume workload, with the ability to multi-task and to work under pressure;
  • Consistently compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, relatives, nurses, other staff and agencies;
  • Commitment to continuing professional development.
