Reporting to the Managing Director you will effectively manage the Technical Design, Procurement and Production groups where you will be pivotal in directing all Operational aspects of the business strategy, helping to set strategic goals.

Directing the flow of Operational activity ensuring that business objectives are met efficiently and effectively.


This role will support Norwich Aluminium by providing professional input at internal and external meetings and site visits where required.

This is a pivotal multi-faceted role.

Directing all Operations from Sales & Estimating handover through Design, Procurement and Factory Production prior to handing over to the Contracts Department.

Key to this role is the management of the production report, which drives the flow and progress of the whole company.

Ensure that all areas of the process are conducted to meet business expectation and ultimately the expectation of the clients.


Survey & Design

  • Develop and manage the company Design Planner ensuring that all new work is assigned to the Technical Designers with all relevant information required to commence and conclude designs through to design approval.
  • Monitor individual designers' workload to ensure that designs are progressed to successful conclusion in the allotted timeframe.
  • Provide documentation, clarity and guidance on issues that will affect design, procurement, factory production and installation.
  • Liaise with customers regarding any variation costs on the project at postquotation and predrawings approval stage. Make Finance Director aware of those cost changes.
  • Provide adequate training to Technical Designers on existing and new tools, codes and standards.
  • Ensure that all designers deliver correct and consistent work to external & internal customers.
  • Ensure that designers are made available to attend customer and internal meetings where required, providing proactive input into meetings.
  • Manage all Technical Design personnel holiday allowances making sure there are no gaps in design capability.
  • Working with HR ensure that discipline is adhered to and that Technical Designer's motivation remains high.
  • Actively pursue more efficient ways of working in the design department by engaging with staff to identify and establish efficiencies.
  • Manage Surveyors timings and scheduling on surveys and survey reports.
  • Provide adequate support to surveyor during times of high / peak activity, including conducting surveys yourself.
  • Direct surveyor where appropriate to maximise efficiency in surveys and survey report production.
  • Attend technical meetings where required in house or on site.

Procurement & Scheduling with assistance of Project Resource Scheduler.

  • Manage Procurement & Scheduling to ensure consistency in all factory procurement and expediting so that all products arrive at Norwich Aluminium in time for Production and Installation.
  • Actively promote a proactive and collaborative approach in procurement to ensure that all internal and external interfaces are positive.
  • Provide adequate cover during holidays and periods of sickness so that procurement standards and workload remain unaffected.
  • Working with HR ensure that discipline is adhered to and that Project Resource Scheduler's motivation remains high.

Factory Production & Stores

  • Set up and manage a factory production process that consistently delivers as per the company business projections.
  • Manage the training of all factory workers for their respective roles ensuring competence and quality in delivered work. This will include making HR aware of any courses required.
  • Manage the Quality Control Process.
  • Actively pursue more efficient ways of working in the factory environment by engaging with staff to identify & establish efficiencies.

Salary dependent on experience.
