Intelligent Resource is currently working in partnership with a public sector client in the UK to recruit a Procurement Category Manager based in Bedford, the role is a fixed term contract for one year.


Key Activities:


  • Identifying, reporting, and delivering opportunities for savings and cost reduction
  • Optimising organisations commercial position through effective contracting and negotiation
  • Providing advice and guidance on risk management related to contracting and procurement
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders to develop strong relationships.
  • Promoting effective supplier relationship management
  • Developing a category management approach to an assigned area of responsibility

Education/ Knowledge / Experience

  • Experience in managing strategic sourcing programme in line with Standing Financial Instructions, EU Procurement Directives and UK Legislation
  • Qualified in Procurement (MCIPS) or equivalent.
  • Have experience in public sector procurement /contracting/ supply chain environment.
  • Have relevant experience running procurement under OJEU / FTS requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple contracts to ensure best value for money and high service levels.
  • Have specialist knowledge in at least one area or category (Fleet, Estates, Consumables, etc.).
  • Have a demonstrable track record of delivering cash releasing savings and experience of negotiating commercial contracts.
