Summary of Role:


The Workshop Technician will be responsible for carrying out and maintaining a consistent throughput of technical repairs on lighting and associated equipment.


Relationships:


  • Responsible to: Warehouse Support Manager & Repairs and Engineering Co-Ordinator
  • Responsible for: Themselves, and on occasions Temporary Staff
  • Liaise with: MBSE-UK management, and employees, MBSE employees in worldwide locations, MBSE associated Companies, third party suppliers, contractors

  • Focus, understand, achieve the need to provide a responsive and quick turnaround of equipment presented for Triage to ensure that all our aim is to have zero shortages for each job/job part/order supplied to each customer.
  • To play your part to improve communications and Team working across the Operation and the Company as a whole.
  • Improve your individual productivity while maintaining/improving quality of work produced.
  • To always look to improve your flexibility, adaptability, and attendance/timekeeping performance.
  • To always look to improve and then maintain the accuracy of yours and the Company's scanning and stock control performance.
  • Ensure any Temporary Staff working with you are fully trained and capable of carrying out any tasks that you always request of them.

Productivity and Quality (General)

  • To take ownership of your work, in that the work completed achieves the defined timescale and is carried out satisfactorily with the use of selfinspection methods to ensure that stringent quality demands are met on each occasion.
  • To take ownership of any Departmental/Operational performance measures or personnel objectives along with continually look to improve their performance and their Teams to ensure that all the work required by a defined timescale is carried out satisfactorilyby meeting all the requested/associated demands ie; delivery, quality, service, output etc.
  • To continually be open and willing to differing defined working practices within the Department to enable improvements in individual productivity levels and the performance of the Department.
  • To participate if requested in Company or Departmental projects and improvement initiatives as assigned and furthermore, proactively communicate any constructive productivity improvements or cost saving suggestions for the Department or the Company toyour direct Line Supervisor/Manager/Director.
  • To focus themselves on maintaining/improving their levels of output of work and quality of work produced while maintaining attention to detail.
  • To challenge daily proactively all aspects of systems/processes/procedures daily within their department and within the operation, to find effective and efficient ways of improving the Department/Operation/Company.
  • To focus themselves on a mindset with the work on "Getting it Done Now and Not Later" to maximise productivity, efficiency, and overall Operational effectiveness.

Duties include:


  • To identify and safely fault find issues on a range of electrical equipment including some three phase appliances.
  • Undertaking electrical and mechanical repairs on a variety of equipment in a safe and professional manner.
  • To research parts and equipment required to effect repairs on technical equipment you have assessed.
  • Communicating with the Repairs and Engineering Coordinator regarding any faults that cannot be resolved inhouse.
  • Preparing equipment to be sent to external suppliers for repair including scanning on to RT Pro jobs for tracking purposes.
  • Broad testing of completed repairs (including PAT) before managing the return to stock.
  • Using RT pro stock control system to track and update repair tickets keeping the system accurate in relation to world stock.
  • Liaising with the repairs coordinator about retiring stock which is beyond economical repair.
  • Work with the Repairs Inventory Technician to ensure stock repair supplies are maintained at appropriate levels.
  • Work with colleagues in other MBSE branches or departments to share knowledge of repair processes and provide guidance of repair feasibility and complexity to stakeholders with a range of technical communication ability
  • Ensure the department workshop is always maintained in an efficient and organised manner with all tools and equipment accounted for.
  • Work with appropriate line managers the to ensure all operations are risk assessed and control measures are in place and being adhered to.
  • Written documentation of measures taken to complete repairs and providing advice to repairs administrator if pricing is not accurate in relation to work undertaken.
