OVERVIEW

Menzies distribution have an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our Belfast Newstrade team who play an important role in supporting our business to deliver a world class service and time critical newspapers & magazines on a dailybasis to our 1,900+ retail customers throughout Northern Ireland.

Reporting directly to the Operations Manager you will be responsible for ensuring your team perform as they will look to you for guidance, support and role model qualities.

You will oversee day-to-day operations ensuring service levels are achieved safely and efficiently whilst keeping a close eye on costs, performance levels and health and safety considerations.

You'll play a pivotal role in helping us deliver our promisesby ensuring every delivery is right on time, whether through our internal teams or a third party.

You'll make sure everything runs as efficiently as possible, bringing the experience and expertise needed to confidently and competently handle a variety day-to-day tasks.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Organise and manage the safe unloading of and packing of newspapers, magazines, periodicals and other news products undertaken by warehouse staff in accordance with publisher requirements and customer orders.
Oversee the departure of delivery vehicles where necessary.
Ensure customer returns are processed in accordance with Company Procedures.
Motivate and encourage team members to maximise performance and achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPI's)
Experience of managing a shift and planning Rota's
Assist in the planning and forecast staff requirements including rota management and annual leave planning
Ensure inductions are carried out for all new staff
Provide on the job training to all staff and delivery contractors to ensure they are able to undertake their duties effectively, efficiently and safely and provide direction where necessary
Plan and control the allocated resources within your team
Manage absence and lateness in accordance with Company procedure
Ensure all payroll paperwork is passed to the relevant department to ensure pay is correct including sickness certificates, holiday forms, etc.
Ensure a safe working environment to comply with Company Policy and Health & Safety Regulations

WHAT YOU NEED

You'll be a positive 'can do' manager that genuinely likes supporting people and has the energy to be always be on the go, working alongside your team on every shift and show determination to complete every to-do list on time, hit targets and maximise productivity.

You will have excellent relationship building skills, an ability to prioritise and manage a varied workloads, support decisions making and have confidence in your own convictions.

You will have experience of leading and developing a team in a fast-paced environment, a knack for time-management, delegation and problem solving, total customer focus and effective communication skills.
