Position Summary
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Effluent Plant Operator at The Macallan Distillery.

The aim is to operate, maintain and effectively managed, with minimum supervision, all equipment and instrumentation within the Effluent treatment plant at The Macallan Distillery.

Working mainly Monday to Friday, with weekends on a rotational basis.


Job Description:


Key duties and responsibilities of the role include:

  • To operate, maintain and effectively manage, with the minimum of supervision, all equipment and instrumentation associated with the effluent plant.
  • To maintain and improve standards of health and safety, quality and good housekeeping and to report any defects promptly.
  • Safely and effectively monitor the operation of the process and conditions of the effluent plant, making adjustments to controls e.g. with the Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) unit and the Aerobic Membrane Bioreactor, to ensure optimum water treatment and compliance.
  • To arrange and manage sludge removals.
  • To assist with distillery cleaning duties as required.
  • To participate fully in continually improving the way we work within the Distillery team and the site in general.
  • To develop team working by assisting where possible to pass on skills and knowledge.
  • Role includes being trained as a relief process operator and undertake shifts as required.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this vacancy, you will be IT literate with strong organisational skills. Have a proven track record of solving problems and exploring how things work. You should demonstrate an excellent appreciation and understanding of health & safety and good interpersonal skills are essential.
