About Markets & Research Technology
Markets & Research Technology (also called TC2) is made up of 4,000+ colleagues across UK, US, India, Czech Republic, Singapore, Japan, and Hong Kong.
We partner closely with the heads of the businesses in order to deliver market leading platforms to meet our clients' needs.
Our trading systems provide stable, high-performance access to markets for our most sophisticated clients, we work on pricing systems that can quickly normalize and summarize trading state across multiple markets to inform traders and algorithms, and risk systems that can calculate business risk across a broad set of international products and firm holdings.
We build & deploy client facing tools via the Barclays web portal and mobile devices that provide the most up-to-date market monitors, analytics, research publications, and data products.
About Credit Trading TechnologyCredit Trading Technology is made up of 200 colleagues and is responsible for the design, development and maintenance of all technology solutions to support the global Credit trading and sales business.
The team is focussed on the build out of a next generation trading platform to support our growing Credit franchise across the globe.
The team works closely with sales, trading and algorithmic quant groups.Overall purpose of role
The role is responsible for leading 2 global teams. The Algo team provides the technology infrastructure to power the global credit systematic trading desk.
In tight collaboration with the trading desk, this role will be responsible for the overall strategic direction of the technology team including software design, build and maintenance as well as organisational management for the group.
The data team is taking responsibility for establishing and implementing a cohesive data strategy across credit technology looking at how we catalog, store, share and analyse the data we have.
The role will be responsible for driving this critical function across credit technology.Key Accountabilities
- Talent management: empowering, mentoring, supporting and building the development team. Including workforce planning, location strategy and diversity initiatives.
- Technical architecture and vision: developing road maps to evolve platform for the future needs of the business.
- Project Delivery: execution of projects to realize technical strategy and support evolution of the business
- Software Development Practices: ensuring our teams follow best practices and continue to improve their SDLC tools and processes.
- Stakeholder Management: ensuring transparency of issues and projects status to senior management and ownership of issues and risk.
- Risk Control: ensuring the team follow policies and operate is a risk first posture at all times in relation to development processes, cyber risk and technical debt.
- Develop/maintain longterm relationships; build trust with stakeholders, teams, and leadership
- Leadership of global team of ~40 people including support, training, mentoring and career development
- Demonstrated experience in driving change through influence
