Cheriton Bishop & Teign Valley Practice is a small, friendly practice and our amazing team are looking for a qualified Dispenser or someone that would be willing to train. The post is for 18 hours per week, which will be worked 8-6pm Wednesday, 8-1pm Thursday, 1 - 6pm Friday
Main duties of the job
Being personable and friendly is a requirement as you will be dealing with the public on a daily basis.
You will be required to accurately and efficiently process all relevant prescriptions as authorised by GPs in accordance with the principles of good practice.

Job Summary

To assist theDispensary Manager in ensuring effective financial control of the dispensary.
JobResponsibilities:
Dispensing
Dispensing acuteprescriptions
Not to dispensemedicines to unauthorised persons, without the doctors consent
Dispensing repeatprescription requests received by telephone calls, or by email from theoutlying villages and those delivered to the surgery
To ensure thatall medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription andwhenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item or about the doseor labelling instructions to check with the authorising doctor or duty doctor
Updatingpatients repeat screens on Doctors instructions

Dispensing `blacklisted prescriptions, pricing and recording them

To ensure thatdrugs are stored in an appropriate manner in accordance with the accompanyinginstructions
Removing `out ofdate stock from the shelves, refrigerators and other storage areas
Disposal ofreturned unused medicines

To collect alldue prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverseof the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient/Dispenser
To ensure thatall monies received or handled on behalf of the practice are appropriatelystored and banked and a record kept of all financial transactions
To endorse allprescription forms as appropriate, collate and forward the forms in a securemanner to the PPD for processing and reimbursement. The forms should be bundled in accordancewith current PPD guidelines and include any necessary accompanying paperworksuch as the FP34D
To promptlyforward all invoices and dispensary related correspondence to the Practice andDispensary Managers or Dispensary Manager according to practice policy
To notify thePractice and Dispensary Managers of any FP10 returns/feedback from the PPA sothat any appropriate remedial action may be taken
To ensure thatshelves and all work surfaces are regularly cleaned to maintain a high level ofhygiene within the dispensary and that all dispensary equipment is kept cleanand in good working order
To take promptaction in response to any drug alert bulletins that may be received from timeto time
To ensure thatrefrigerated items are stored at the appropriate temperature and to maintain atemperature control record/logbook
To maintain fulland accurate records of all dispensing transactions incorporating the use ofcomputers when available and appropriate
To undertake anynecessary work as may be required and appropriate to maintain a high standardand efficient dispensing service
