    An excellent opportunity has arisento recruit a Mental Health Charge Nurse for Kirby Ward.

    Kirby Ward is currently a 23bedded female functional ward. The ward is due to move to a newly developed 20bedded ward in May 2024 where we look forward to continuing to provide highstandards of care and maintaining our Royal College of Psychiatry accreditation.The team is exceptionally proud to have also achieved Silver LPT internalaccreditation and strive to continue to make steps towards achieving Gold

    Kirby Ward has a strong MDT who welcomethe opportunity for ongoing leadership that aims for the greatest outcomes forpatient's mental and physical health needs.

    We are looking for a RegisteredMental Health Nurse with a passion to join the team and to leadwith compassion, whilst bringingopportunities to learn and develop staff skills and beencouraged to generate new ideas that improve care for our service users andcontinue to build the highstandards of the ward

    The successful candidate willsupport and input into the service redesign and will work closely with thesenior management team in ensuring colleagues and service users are representedthroughout the changes to mental health services.

    This opportunity comes at anexciting time within mental health as we undergo the re-provision, design andexpansion of our Mental Health Services through the Trusts Step Up to Great -Mental Health programme.

    Main duties of the job

    The post holder will manage and take overall responsibility for care quality performance and clinical activity by providing professional nursing leadership and guidance, clinical advice, and management in relation to the key dimensions of health care quality:

    o Patient safety

    o The effectiveness of all health care interventions

    o Patient experience

    o The environment in which care is delivered

    We are looking to attract someone with great leadership qualities, providing professional leadership and development to their team and to act as an effective role model, demonstrating personal commitment to continuous improvement, taking responsibility for the leadership and supervision and actively engaging with both managerial and clinical supervision.

    Kirby Ward is based within Leicestershire Partnership Trust Acute Inpatient Services, Mental Health for Older People (MHSOP) as part of the Directorate of Mental Health (DMH).

  • Significant post registration experience as a senior nurse in relevant area of practice.
  • Demonstrates motivation and commitment to providing high quality patient centre nursing care and patient education.
  • Desirable

  • Experience of resource management including staff and budget management.

  • To be able to demonstrate understanding of current developments in the NHS and their implications for leadership and quality care for clients/service users.

    Essential

  • Registered Nurse Level 1.
  • Degree or Equivalent.
  • Post Registration Qualification.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development within the last 12 months.
  • Hold an NMC approved mentoring qualification.
  • Leadership or Management Qualification or willingness to work towards it.
