Description

Our Exeter office is seeking a Legal Support Assistant to join our busy Business department on a part time contract working Monday - Wednesday, providing professional support for lawyers within the department.


The Business team is looking for someone with a proactive approach who will maintain a high quality of service while developing strong and trusted working relationships with staff and clients.


The Role:


  • Assisting lawyers with the billing process, drafting narratives and covering letters
  • Looking after credit control for the Business team, ensuring bills are sent out on a timely manner and following up any issues
  • Understand the team's financial hygiene position and liaise with departmental Administrators to ensure all systems and processes are up to date
  • Ensure regular legal team meetings are arranged, and then actively participate in these meetings
  • Liaise with support departments to resolve problems on lawyers' behalf, taking ownership of the issue and following up where appropriate
  • Support other team members by sharing knowledge and ensuring own and others' skills are developed
  • Organise client events / seminars in conjunction with Marketing, attending to meet and greet clients where appropriate
  • Collate information for preparation of regular client updates or reports as and when required
  • Demonstrate a good level of knowledge and effective utilisation of the firm's systems and procedures
  • Develop a good working knowledge of all department key legal processes to enable maximum flexibility and effectiveness in role
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with lawyers and clients, and develop knowledge of the department's clients and their business

Experience and Qualifications Required:


  • Recent substantial experience in legal support (PA, Legal Secretary, LSA, etc)
  • Recent experience in diary management and the ability to multitask
  • Fast, accurate typing skill
  • Competent with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.) and data management systems
  • Recent experience of working to compliance and file maintenance procedures is advantageous
