    Description

    An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Staff Nurse within the East Kent Community Rehabilitation Service, at Rivendell.


    Rivendell is situated in the village of Eastry near Sandwich, and is one of 6 Rehabilitation Units across Kent, which provides specialist inpatient rehabilitation for individuals with complex mental health needs.

    The unit comprises of 8 single bedrooms and is staffed 24 hour a day, 7 days a week.


    The multidisciplinary team provides a wide range of individualised interventions delivered by nursing, medical, psychological, occupational therapy and peer support clinicians.

    As a Staff Nurse you would be the named nurse for a small caseload of clients and be expected to coordinate a recovery-focused, individualised plan of care in addition to supporting the service users through the rehabilitation pathway.

    Work across a 24-hour shift pattern, 7 days a week
    Manage the shift when on duty and coordinate the workload for junior staff delegation
    Have a good understanding of the Mental Health Act, Safeguarding frameworks and clinical documentation.
    Champion recovery-orientated practice, to include group work, contribute and facilitate to the therapeutic intervention programme.
    Follow Health and Safety protocols and Policies
    Risk Management and patient safety
    Deliver effective and quality care alongside patients.
    Keep up to date with mandatory and CPD requirements (Trust Policy / NMC Revalidation)
    Demonstrate good mental health assessment and intervention skills.

    There is a strong commitment to supervision, training and regular appraisal, which you will receive and deliver to named staff.

    Work as part of the MDT on the Unit.
    Have a good knowledge of physical health monitoring and documentation.

    Recording and reporting accurately any changes related to the patients current behaviour and/or risks to Nurse/healthcare professional in Charge in a timely manner.

    Recording care given in a timely manner as per professional and local standards using approved KMPT systems.
    To make recommendations to the care plan process

    Promoting a healthy, safe and secure environment by adhering to Trust statutory health and safety requirements and maintaining confidentiality of information at all times in compliance with Trust policies, procedures, protocols and guidance.

    Facilitating the assessment of staff undergoing the Care Certificate.
    Being flexible and responsive to competing demands

    Registered with the NMC as a Mental Health Nurse (RMN)

    Evidence of relevant additional/post registration training

    Previous experience in mental health rehabilitation
    Experience in writing care plans

    Experience in using mental health assessments/checklists e.g. Experience of workload management of junior staff

    Completion of supervision training
    Completion of mentorship training/experience of supervising students

    Demonstrates knowledge of best practice in rehabilitation
    Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of concepts of Recovery

    Experience of using specific Recovery focussed interventions
