Ready to dive into the world of vehicle mechanics and maintenance? With our 3-year Vehicle Technician Apprenticeship, you'll gain the knowledge and confidence you need to tackle any vehicle engineering problem and keep the British Army on the move.
About the programme
As a Vehicle Technician Apprentice, you'll gain hands-on experience in everything from general vehicle maintenance through to diagnostics and complex repairs on military equipment – including Land Rovers, MAN fleet trucks and armoured track vehicles/tanks.
Working alongside an experienced mentor, your work will help provide fit and safe equipment to support military mechanical training for the British Army's REME (Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers) tradespeople.
You'll also gain invaluable skills in communication, decision making, and collaboration – ensuring you can effectively coordinate with team members, make informed judgments when tackling complex maintenance tasks, and successfully collaborate with colleagues to get results.
Your education/training
You'll receive your training on site at Ministry of Defence Lyneham and on day release at New College Swindon, helping you to achieve a Level 3 in Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician by the end of year three.
