    Job summary

    Women's and Children's Division is seeking to recruit a Quality Governance Manager to join our team. The post holder will work alongside our Governance Lead to promote a culture where quality governance and patient safety are integrated into the care and wellbeing of patients and staff, promoting a culture of participation, openness, and accountability.

    The successful candidate will be supported by senior colleagues to encourage development of governance practice. This role will fit into a well established governance team.

    This is a 15 month fixed term contract.

    Main duties of the job

    The successful candidate will be part of a team offering support, advice and guidance on the seven pillars of governance to the paediatric, breast and gynaecology directorates, and the wider division.

    This will offer opportunity to improve quality and sfaety, working with clinical and operational teams to support our families

    Job responsibilities

    To work closely with the W&C Divisional Management Team to design, implement, deliver and evaluate the Clinical Governance and assurance framework for the Division.

    To ensure all Divisional Quality Governance Activities are in line with the corporate governance agenda of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.

    To ensure staff and clinician engagement in the W&C Divisional Clinical Governance agenda. To ensure education and training programmes are devised and delivered in relation to quality governance, risk, patient safety, clinical audit and continuous quality improvement.

    To play a key role on assisting the W&C Division to identify and define the information required to monitor clinical effectiveness, patient safety, compliance and quality outputs of the services provided.

    To develop and maintain relationships inter-divisionally and with the corporate clinical governance team to ensure that all clinical governance activity is in accordance with both Trust policy and the corporate strategic intent.

    To co-ordinate and ensure incidents and complaint investigations and responses happen within agreed time frames. Ensuring that reports are of high quality and any associated action plans are SMART, monitored and evidenced.

    To monitor actions arising from incidents investigation, complaints, audit and other sources are completed within the division and that learning is shared across the Division and organisation where appropriate.

    To provide reports to W&C Divisional Board and present executive brief on reports at Divisional Governance Meetings.

    To support and report in to the W&C Divisional Governance Board, Directorate Governance meetings and help to drive the Quality Governance agenda with the W&C Division.

    Provide leadership where necessary in accordance with governance organisational team structure.

    Person Specification

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Graduate level of education, or significant governance experience within the NHS
  • Experience of involvement in clinical audit
  • Experience of analysing problems and identifying solutions.
  • Experience of delivering clinical governance objectives in line with organisational strategy.
  • Understanding of and working experience of process mapping.
  • A track record in delivering presentations and developing and delivering training.
  • Ability to devise project plans and work programmes, working independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of Data Protection Act and freedom of information Act, and Caldicott Principles.
  • Enhanced IT skills in common software packages including
  • Microsoft Office.

  • Relevant experience in clinical governance within a medium to large NHS organisation
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
