Salary:
£32,194 to £34,452 plus a location allowance of £1,721. You will receive £32,194 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £34,452 will be via incremental progression.

Job Summary
The Directorate of Legal Services (DLS) provides in-house legal services for the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS).

As part of DLS' Family Disclosure Team (FDT) you will provide valuable help and support in matters relating to family court proceedings on behalf of the MPS.


Work Involves


Working closely with the FDT's Senior Disclosure Officers, Disclosure Officers and Clerks, this role will involve a variety of tasks to assist with the timely disposal of requests for police information by courts, local authorities, solicitor's firms, interested parties and other agencies.

Disclosure Officer Job Description

Purpose:


To receive and provide an accurate response within a timely and appropriate manner, to requests for disclosure relating to Family Proceedings.


Key Responsibilities:


  • To use a methodical approach to process requests for disclosure in Family Proceedings
  • To have overall case responsibility and to ensure that all cases are prioritised to comply with the strict deadlines. This requires great attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy when making editing judgments, ensuring that data is redacted in accordance with the Disclosure Protocols, Data Protection Act 1998, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Children's Act 1989. Taking into account third party details, sensitive information, operational procedures, legal exemptions and the risk of repercussions in disclosing the information
  • Extracting information from police systems in line with agreed procedures
  • Close liaison with Child Abuse Investigation Teams, Community Safety Units and other MPS units
  • Working to strict court deadlines whilst managing a high caseload
  • There will be occasions when you will need to undertake presentations, meetings, and conferences in respect of disclosure issues and procedural changes
  • You will be working alongside other team members and will be expected to provide training and feedback for them as necessary

Other Information

  • Take up to two days per month off as flexileave, providing the staff member does not exceed the allowance specified with DLS guidelines
  • To work from home or at a remote location up to three times a week
