About The Role:

As a learning support assistant for a college environment, your primary role is to provide assistance to students with complex needs so that they can fully participate in their studies.

This may involve providing academic support, personal care, or both, depending on the needs of the student.

Responsibilities that you may have as a learning support assistant:

Providing academic support: This may involve helping students with note-taking, studying for exams, organizing their work, and accessing the resources they need to complete their coursework.
Assisting with personal care: Depending on the needs of the student.
Working with teachers and other professionals: You may need to liaise with teachers, educational psychologists, and other professionals to ensure that students receive the appropriate support.
Monitoring progress: You may need to monitor the progress of students and report back to teachers and parents/guardians on their progress.
Promoting independence: You may need to encourage students to become more independent in their studies and personal care tasks, and provide them with the skills they need to achieve this.

Skills we would like you to have:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
A patient, caring, and empathetic approach to working with children and young adults.
The ability to work effectively as part of a team, and to follow instructions and guidelines from the class teacher.
Some SEN knowledge and willingness to learn more.
Be committed to safeguarding children.

Requirements:

Enhanced Child & Adult DBS on Update Service (or willing to apply).

No Cautions or Convictions.

Overseas Police Clearance (if your residence in the UK is less than 5 years).
