    Consultant Psychiatrist in Adult Mental Health Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust

    A vacancy has arisen due to previous post holderleaving the post. It is community-based post.

    TheAccess to Mental Wellbeing Service is a gateway into secondary mental healthservices covering the York & Selby area reaching as far afield asPocklington in the East, Easingwold in the North. The service receivesreferral from Primary Care, Social Care, Police, and internal teams such asPsychiatry Liaison and Crisis Teams. The service offers a BriefIntervention pathway for a range of common mental health difficulties to reducethe requirement for secondary care intervention. The service worksclosely with NHS Talking Therapies and First Contact Mental Health Workersbased in GP Practices. In addition to this the service has close links withVCSE services in the local area and LA Safeguarding Services.

    The team is multi-disciplinary, working with people aged 18-65 years within the Yorkand Selby location. It utilises the expertise of doctors, nurses, ooccupational therapists, psychologists, social workers, and support workers. The post also accommodates a core or GP trainee and aHigher trainee post.

    Main duties of the job

    There is an expectation that the Consultant will attend team huddles which is where patients are discussed, Consultants will be required to support the team on a day-to-day basis and review patients as and when necessary. The Consultant will also attend weekly Leadership meeting (attended by Team manager, Consultant, Advanced practitioner, Band 6 Nurse and Psychologist etc.) to discuss team and patient related issues.The leadership team works as a collective leadership so the post holder should have an appreciation of a horizontal hierarchy.

    The expectations of the clinical work are that the post holder will provide consultant input in line with the principles of New Ways of Working. The core clinical work will involve assessments at home or at Foss Park Hospital, participation in formulation-, review- and leadership- meetings as well as Mental Health Act-related work.

    Person Specification Qualifications

    • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
    • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
    • Additional clinical qualifications

    Experience

    • Excellent knowledge in specialty
    • Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
    • Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
    • Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others
    • Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA
    • Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training
    • Participated in continuous professional development
    • Participated in research or service evaluation.
    • Able to use and appraise clinical evidence.
    • Has actively participated in clinical audit.
    • Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service
    • Able to plan and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training relevant to this post

    • Experienced in clinical research and / or service evaluation.
    • Evidence of achievement in education, research, audit and service improvement: awards, prizes, presentations and publications.

    • Trained to standard equivalent to level 2 in TEWV Trust Quality improvement system
    • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
    • Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of gaining CCT
    • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
    • Approved under S12(2) MHA OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
    • Included on the GMC Specialist Register in the relevant specialty.
    • In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.
