    We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Operations Director to join our Executive team in Marshall Motor Group. As a Group Managing Director, you will play a key role in leading a significant part of our operation playing an intrinsic part in driving our overall business and stakeholder objectives.     Reporting to the CEO, the Group Managing Director will be responsible for leading numerous National Franchise Directors, representing a significant section of our Manufacturer Brand portfolio across the country, whilst providing an environment for our dedicated team of specialists to deliver a consistent customer focused culture, along with high levels of performance aligned to those of our manufacturer partners.

    What are the key accountabilities?

    As a Group Managing Director, you will have overall accountability for all people and performance for the brands you are responsible for.

    • You will inspire, lead and develop your Franchise Directors to deliver their strategic and operational objectives
    • You will build strong relationships with your manufacturer (OEM) senior team contacts, and support the group to deliver OEM objectives and grow our partnerships, ensure our team develops in line with the brand partner framework and expectations, and extending future business opportunities
    • Grow and nurture a high-performance, customer focused culture, coaching and developing colleagues, enabling internal succession, and ensuring great performance is recognised and rewarded and innovation encouraged
    • Set financial and growth objectives for each franchise, working closely with Franchise Directors who will plan accordingly to ensure profit and product targets are achieved
    • Deliver high levels of performance against all manufacturers set targets, and at least an above average achievement against any manufacturer scorecard, national measurement platform or pre-set targets
    • Ensure a clear focus on high levels of customer satisfaction, good customer outcomes, consistently achieving exceptional levels of Customer Satisfaction results, against our own objectives or those set by our manufacturer partners
    • Develop future strategy, working alongside the Marshall Motor Group Board of Directors
    • Maintain exceptional key controls across Health and Safety, Compliance and Group Policy
    • Ensure all operational activity is conducted in line with Marshall Motor Group, Manufacturer, and Regulatory requirements

    Do I need experience?

    Given the nature of this role, previous experience as a highly successful Group Director, Divisional Director or Large Franchise Director will be required within the Retail Motor Sector, in addition to your previous experience, we are seeking individuals who display the following attributes:

    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and motivate a large and diverse team, taking them on the journey with you
    • An innovative mindset with the ability to devise and implement improvement initiatives and embrace broader responsibilities as the business grows
    • Commercially savvy with the ability to navigate barriers, to proactively 'get things done' through the performance of your teams
    • High levels of personal integrity and emotional intelligence
    • The ability and agility to shift between strategic projects and operational activities
    • Confidence to inspire teams, drive engagement and hold teams accountable for their performance; create an environment for teams to thrive
    • Exceptional relationship management: credibility and personal style will play a big part in creating trusted relationships across a variety of internal and external stakeholders
    • Extensive knowledge of the automotive retailing sector; the business will move at pace and the candidate will need to be ahead on market trends and insights
    • A professional and calm approach with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to foresee potential barriers - provide critique and take decisive actions
    • Excellent customer management skills to build long lasting relationships and ensuring they are at the heart of our activities and outcomes
