You will need to be able to assess their care needs, as well as plan, implement and evaluate care given.
Furthermore, you will also participate in the supervision and teaching of unqualified and qualified staff.As a band 5 you will also develop your own skills in the safe administration of medication via various routes, including the administration of chemotherapy as a senior band 5 nurse, alongside taking charge of the ward.
You will be responsible for competently providing safe and effective care to children requiring hospitalisation, with minimal supervision by a more experienced registered nurse.
Assess care needs, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care. To participate in the supervision and teaching of unqualified and qualified staff, including basic and/or post basic students.Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest teaching Trusts in the country. First level registration RSCN/RN (child) (part 8 or 15)Basic Level Child protection training
Advanced level child protection training
Evidence of continuing professional development
Experienceof delivering evidenced based nursing care without supervision, to children in an acute hospital setting
Evidence of experience in a high dependency or critical care areas
Evidence of up to date paediatric nursing skills and knowledge
Current knowledge of research developments in paediatric nursing
Competent to care for children and their families in a safe an effective manner without direct supervision
Advocate of paediatric nursing
Evidence of participation in research and audit projects
Competent or working towards skills of being chemo competencies
