- Ensure that all voyages are conducted with primary regard to the safety of crew, vessel and protection of the environment.
- Minimise the operational costs and controlling vessels' performance to ensure overall performance of the voyages are in line with Owners and Charterers expectations.
- Within the required timescales, provide the Master with all required information, including but not limited to, CP terms, stowage plans, discharge instructions and method statements.
- Effective co-ordination of bunker supplies in accordance with company guidelines.
- Checking freight/hire invoices upon completion of loading or upon delivery to Charterers.
- Negotiating Agency fees and appointing agents as necessary.
- Ensure all parties are continually updated on voyage orders and vessel itineraries.
- Checking and approving cargo documentation such as bills of lading and statement of facts etc.
- Assist as part of the emergency / crisis management team and make appropriate requirements.
- Ex sea-going officer (Chief Officer or Captain) on Bulk Carriers.
- You hold a degree in Shipping Operations, Masters Certificate or equivalent.
- Previous experience of carrying out the shore-based day to day operations of a fleet of Bulk Carriers. (Minimum 2. Years with Sea Experience / 5 Years without)
- Demonstrated understanding and awareness of vessel design, cargo types, voyage instructions, stowage plans, vessel KPI's, key ports and voyage routes.
- Clear, precise and confident in verbal and written communication to support credibility and position of expertise.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively build and maintain strong relationships with key contacts.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills together with the ability to support decisions with sound reasoning and judgement.

Overview of role
Zodiac Maritime are seeking to appoint an experienced Operations Manager with a strong Bulk Carrier background to join their team, headquartered in London.
The successful candidate will co-ordinate the day-to-day operational activities of a fleet of Bulk Carriers in an efficient, timely and cost-effective manner, to ensure the Owners and Charterers expectations are met.
