South Thames Colleges Group are now seeking a Head of Inclusive Learning to take responsibility for the leadership of Additional Learning Support and the Commissioning of High Needs Support, for all students with learning difficulties.


You will be able to manage at both strategic and operational levels, leading the promotion, delivery, development, and improvement of Additional Learning Support for students across mainstream provision and discrete programmes for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, including High Needs Students (HNS).

You will also work with the Curriculum Teams in Colleges to ensure they meet the Preparing for Adulthood agenda for cross-college HNS.


You will have line management responsibility for learning support and discrete curriculum managers and colleagues and be responsible for their leadership, motivation, and development to ensure that the aims and objectives of the Group are met.

You will maintain and develop relationships with key partners such as Local Authorities, carers, families, other providers, referring agencies, funding bodies, employers, and other organisations, contributing to the care and learning of all students with support needs across the ability range and to enable growth.


As our Head of Inclusive Learning, you will be educated to degree level and have a recognised teaching qualification such as Cert Ed or PGCE.

You will have experience of leading and managing a complex learning support provision and services for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities within a Further Education college and have knowledge of meeting students needs, including familiarity with funding mechanisms for students with support needs and best practice to meet Ofsted and legal regulatory requirements.


With highly developed communication, interpersonal and prioritisation skills, you will be results focused and able to establish creditability with managers and understand the business need.

You will be able to produce and analyse data, making appropriate recommendations, and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.


A specialist SLDD qualification at Level 3 or above is desirable, as is experience of working with partners and organisations to commission, build and develop provision and services for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
