    Overview:

    The ISS Governance Research team based in London is seeking a Junior Research Analyst. You will be guided by experienced research analysts and learn in-depth about U.K. corporate governance, gaining an understanding of what matters to companies and their shareholders, including technical terminology in the corporate governance and investment management field. The role will give you in-depth learning and experience of U.K corporate governance and shareholder voting, and also offer some further opportunities to learn more about other capital markets around the world.

    Your main responsibilities will be to assist our experienced team of analysts in reviewing public companies' information and disclosures (including agendas of annual general meetings, annual reports and meeting materials) with regard to their corporate governance performance and proposals submitted for shareholder approval, and in analyzing the data and information as part of our well-structured research process, helping to produce research and recommendations for our clients.

    Responsibilities:

  • Support senior members of the UK research/custom research team by assisting in preparation of reports in line with ISS Voting Policy or investor-specific voting policy
  • Analyse governance structures and performance of publicly listed companies and benchmark these against ISS Policy or investor specific-specific voting policy to provide ISS clients with appropriate analysis and recommendations
  • Help prepare analysis including explaining the rationales for vote recommendations
  • Gather and analyze data based on information in company public documents.
  • Be part of a team engaging with many public companies and/or investors as part of our research process
  • Qualifications:

  • Degree in Economics, Finance, Business, Law, Political Sciences or any related field
  • An interest in corporate governance, capital markets, research and data analysis
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical ability and numeracy skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office, in particular MS Office Word and Excel
  • An organised and structured mind to deal with sometimes large quantities of work and strict deadlines
  • The ability to work independently while also collaborating with other team members
  • Self-motivation and have a curious mindset
  • The ability to take initiative with completing tasks to a high standard
  • The ability to stay focused and thrive in a fast-paced environment, in particular during busy periods
  • Fluent written English
