Head of Event Operations

Position Type:
Permanent, 4 day working week (4 day working week for 5 days' pay)


Working Pattern:
Hybrid - 3 days in the office (Shepherds Bush), 1 day from home & every Friday is non working day as standard

Do you have a passion for leading event operations and the desire to travel to some of the most incredible locations in the world to bring them to life? If so this could be the ideal role for you

The role:


Reporting to the CEO of This is Beyond, you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end logistics and delivery of each event in the This is Beyond portfolio.

You will oversee a full Operations team consisting of Managers and Executives and will be responsible for ensuring events across the business are delivered to the highest standards.

While successfully running the full delivery of all shows within the portfolio. you will also manage costs and ensure team optimisation.


The right person for this role with have demonstrable expertise in implementing new ideas that surprise and delight our delegates and attendees.

You will be a mentor to the team, super creative, strategic and analytical in your investments and experienced in managing larger scale events/ tradeshows where innovation sits at the forefront.


What you will do:


  • Oversee all endtoend logistics and operations for our conferences, marketplaces and parties.
  • Provide effective leadership to the Operations team to meet KPI's and successfully deliver their individual events, whilst preparing the team for the launch of new events.
  • Oversee Procurement for the Operations team, contain costs and continuously identify areas for improvement.
  • Evaluate and maintain processes, systems and strategy to ensure efficiency and team optimisation
  • Champion strong relationships with Event Managers and Creatives to realise their vision for the shows
  • Create a culture of accountability and ownership within Operations
  • Manage relationships with suppliers, venues and hotel partners with regular reviews
  • Work closely with Creative to ensure compliance of brand standards across all shows
  • Optimise Exhibitor & Buyer experience
  • Be an ambassador for Health & Safety, leading by example
  • Train team members accordingly, oversee team development
  • Strong awareness of trends and ideas to propose, for continuous improvement, always maintaining our status as game changers.
  • Conduct site visits, venue searches and supplier meetings where necessary for market research purposes.
  • Attend This is Beyond Events (up to 7 events per year) where needed to support the other Ops team members.

What you will need:


  • Proven Operational success on largescale events and/or conferences within a senior management position.
  • Exceptional leadership skills to create a highperforming team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • A keen interest in travel and able to travel regularly for site inspections, attend our events and visit competitor events for market research purposes.
  • Ability to demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to demonstrate strategic thinking.
  • Strong knowledge of budget creation and cost control.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Passion for delivering exceptional results.
