Job Role:


To be responsible for the comfort and health and safety of the residents, employees and visitors by taking care of the care home building and environment, addressing issues and faults promptly, providing general maintenance and ensuring preventative measures are carried out to prevent unnecessary deterioration of the building, environment and its contents.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • To ensure heating plant and equipment is efficiently and effectively operated, make adjustments as necessary and report defects and malfunctions to the Home Administrator.
  • To check maintenance requests daily for tasks to be completed and set priorities with the Home Manager.
  • Able to be called upon out of normal working hours; to attend the Home to resolve problems/failures which cannot wait until the next working day.
  • To be responsible for ensuring clear and safe pedestrian access to the Home particularly in adverse weather conditions (e.g. clearing snow, gritting etc.)
  • Provide routine development and maintenance i.e. minor decoration, repairs and those tasks which would not normally require the services of an outside contractor.

Requirements:


  • A good communicator and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team
  • A strong work ethic and willingness to achieving high standards.
  • Working knowledge and compliance understanding of Health and Safety and Fire Safety.
  • Experienced and competent at painting and decorating.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing, electrics and carpentry.
  • Garden maintenance experience.
  • Qualification in painting and decorating, plumbing, carpentry, or building/construction is desirable not essential
