    Short Breaks Worker Nights

    Connect2Luton are excited to recruit a Short Breaks Worker Nights on behalf of Luton Borough Council within their CHILDREN & LEARNING department.

    Under the direction of the Team Leaders and on call management support, organise, plan and take responsibility for the care and safeguarding of the young people and security and cleanliness of the Short Breaks Hub during the night, ensuring the provision of high quality, cost effective short break care for children & young people with learning, physical disabilities and challenging behaviour.

    As a Short Breaks Worker Nights, you will be responsible to:

    Work with individual children and young people to address their physical, emotional, social and development needs including administration of medication.

    Give prescribed medication and other health procedures (eg, gastrostomy feeding and oxygen) or first aid treatment to residents and be alert to resident's medical needs.

    To plan and organise workload ensuring young people are safe guarded, competently undertake all aspects of the care task for young people and ensure their needs are met.

    Work during day time hours to complete training and attend meetings.

    Able to communicate sensitively, clearly and persuasively, gaining co-operation and trust, dealing with challenging behaviours, maintaining own emotions and composure, building caring positive relationships.

    Able to implement agreed care plans and assist in the assessment of needs of the young people.
    Able to undertake record keeping and report writing.
    Able to undertake practical care tasks and domestic tasks (including manual handling and administration of medication, after training).
    NVQ3 Caring for Children.

    Because of the nature of this job, it will be necessary for Disclosure and Barring Service checks to be undertaken.
