    Job summary

    Victoria Surgery is looking for a dispensary delivery driver to work a maximum of 8 hours on a Tuesday (flexible during periods of annual leave), transporting medication in a safe & timely manner to patients' homes across the Bury St Edmunds area & surrounding villages. This is initially a fixed-term position, for 12 months, with a view to extending to a permanent position.

    The post-holder will be a key point of contact for our patients & collection-point partners, so you will need good communication skills & a keen desire to give good customer service. The role will involve assisting patients & their carers by reporting their queries back to the dispensary to ensure they receive a prompt response. You will also maintain a log of all deliveries, organise your own route as efficiently as possible & carry out vehicle checks at the beginning or end of each shift, recorded onto our Clarity system. You will be an essential part of our dispensary team, working alongside our team of dispensers to ensure that our patients always receive their medication on time.

    Main duties of the job

  • Deliver patients' medication to their home addresses, within the practice catchment area, following the standard operating procedures (training will be provided).
  • Deliver patients' medication to collection points across Bury St Edmunds & surrounding villages.
  • Respond to all queries & requests for assistance from patients, their carers & the owners of the businesses in a polite & efficient manner.

    Victoria Surgery is a well-established and friendly practice in the centre of town caring for a patient population of approximately 11,000. Our team recognises the importance of a good work-life balance.

    Our practice team consists of 9 list-holding GPs and a dedicated clinical team including, clinical pharmacists, nurse practitioner, 1 nurse and a trainee nursing associate. We are supported by a full management, administration and dispensary team.

    We are part of the Bury St Edmunds Primary Care Network and the successful candidate will work alongside a teamincluding paramedics, social prescriber, health and wellbeing coach, care coordinators and pharmacy technician.

  • You will need to act in a polite and professional manner and have the ability to follow the practices policies and procedures to ensure patient safety. It is a requirement of employment that you follow practice policy in maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
  • As well as good organisational and planning skills, you will be a good team player and able to work flexibly and change plans and routes when needed.
  • A full clean driving license is essential for this role as is the ability to lift heavy parcels/products. A familiarity of the Bury St Edmunds area and surrounds would be advantageous.
