Description

We are looking for a suitably experienced professional who is passionate about caring for elderly patients who have fractured hips.


The position of Trainee Assistant Clinical Practitioner is an opportunity for registered Healthcare Professionals to undertake an extensive learning and practical working programme to enhance their current skills and knowledge via the Trust's Apprenticeship route.


The current team of ACPs has 2 experienced ACPs and we are now in a position to recruit to this trainee post.

The purpose is to ensure suitable succession planning.


The ACP's work closely with:
ward nurses, therapists, junior doctors and consultants.


As an apprentice you will undertake a combination of both on the job learning and academic study, completing a portfolio of work, assignments and practical undertakings with the full support of the chosen learning provider and the Trust.

Huntsman 5 is a 24 bedded ward that cares for patients with hip fractures.

The patients care is managed surgically by highly skilled Orthopaedic Surgeons, but overall health is managed by a great team of medical Orthogeriatricians.


The Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner will be working towards becoming an autonomous, accountable practitioner who will work on their own initiative and in collaboration with medical, nursing, and allied health professional colleagues as required.


Until signed off as competent, the Trainee ACP will work under the supervision of a qualified clinician whilst developing the skills that enable them to become an autonomous practitioner.

The role will be structured around the four core functions of advanced practice:

  • Expert clinical practice (with a minimum clinical focus of 80%)
  • Professional leadership and consultancy
  • Education, training and development of self and others
  • Practice and service development, research, and evaluation

Please also note this vacancy is a training post so all applicants will start at Band 6 and upon completion of necessary skills and/ or training will progress to Band 7.


This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 3 years due to this being an apprenticeship/training programme.

The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts.
