    We have an excellent opportunity for a Regional Operations Director to develop, manage and deliver upon the strategic growth objectives within our Infrastructure Water South business unit. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with the ambition to become a strategic leader within our business. The successful candidate would be based in Reading with regular travel to site in and around the Thames Valley region.

    Role Summary

    This is a key leadership role with overall responsibility for the management and success of a number of projects, including client relations, health and safety, quality, environmental, programme and the cost/value of operations under his/her control.

    This role is responsible for ensuring robust programme or framework execution through the leadership of others, and thereby supporting the growth of the business

    What you will be doing

    • Challenging other members of the leadership team to ensure business objectives are met.
    • Creating new and innovative revenue opportunities in line with the ever-changing needs of their clients
    • Specific responsibilities include management of; health and safety, design, customer relations, quality, environmental, programme and the cost/value during both preproduction (ECI phase) and production.
    • Monitoring the progress of offsite and onsite operations against deadlines and budget limitations with those who directly report to you.
    • Ensuring commercial objectives of the business are met at all times

    • Ensuring technically robust delivery in services, ensuring the team drive compliance by rigorously checking and reviewing procedures
    • Promote technical excellence and innovation, and raise technical profile externally
    • Understand what the client expects of the contracts, and ensuring Tilbury Douglas meet or exceed expectations
    • Understand client business drivers, focussed on delivering value to clients
    • Identify high risk projects and become actively involved in managing their successful delivery
    • Ensure that the business consistently delivers quality service to programmes within budget and on time
    • Develop and maintain work processes, procedures incorporating all applicable industry and regulatory standards, good practices and lessons learnt
    • Ensure awareness of client / industry standards and best practice is maintained through regular briefings
    • Ensure that staff morale and welfare needs are addressed by mentoring and encouraging individuals, and providing feedback on performance
    • Develop and maintain an appropriate supply chain to support the above as required
    • In addition to the normal attributes of a successful leader this role will require determination and doggedness as you will be changing for the better the way in which many people currently work embedding production line thinking and our "offsite first" philosophy.

    What we need from you

    • Degree, or equivalent, in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying
    • Excellent communication skills - Ability to communicate both up and down within Tilbury Douglas and the Client Organisation Experience in change management
    • Excellent time management skills, with ability to deliver tasks to deadline
    • IT literate and proficient in Microsoft Office package
    • BIM/digital experience desirable.
    • Demonstrable experience, proven and inspirational leader with a positive approach with great people management skills and strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational capabilities – preferably water/utilities.
    • Experience in building collaborative relationships with existing and new clients and suppliers
    • Creative and innovative, able to devise solutions to complex management challenges
    • Ability to exercise sound technical and commercial judgement and decision making in complex situations
    • Technical experience and knowledge
    • Sound commercial acumen; lead other team members to produce accurate time and cost forecasts and reports.
    • Programme focused ensuring our project teams plan and organise resources to deliver on time and in full
    • Financial ability
    • Ability to encourage and enable personal development of, and recognise and reward team
    • Has an appreciation of MMC, Lean Construction, Agile Programme Management, Production Thinking and other techniques that assure programme, cost and quality performance.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality
