    Head of Finance

    - Engineering/Construction

    - Permanent

    - £80-90K Base Plus Package

    Altum Consulting have been retained by a leader in the civil engineering space to secure a commercially-minded Head of Finance. This role is newly created and will play a pivotal role in the growth of their largest division (c.£350m). The Finance team comprises 30 people across 2 key areas. This role sits under the Finance Director in the business facing side of Finance with key stakeholders in operations and commercial.

    This role drives the impact and understanding of financial reporting on business performance for the division, providing analysis and delivering insight linking financial reporting to business strategies. Becoming a strong advisor to the regional leadership teams, building a strong partnership based upon trust, knowledge and a deep understanding of the challenges, strengths, and opportunities of the Division.

    Key Responsibilities,

    • Lead in producing accurate monthly and quarterly management accounts in line with the Divisions revenue and profit policy and manage all Group Reporting requirements for the Division.
    • Partner with the Regions and budget holders to develop and deliver operational and overhead budgets and forecasts.
    • Manage working capital and cashflow forecasting for the Division.
    • Attend monthly contract reviews, providing financial insight to project & business performance.
    • Ensure all costs incurred are appropriately allocated to projects and overhead departments.
    • Review, and Control of Balance Sheet Accounts.
    • Review and preparation of financial information for Board Reports
    • Ensure effective controls are in place and that risk/opportunity is accurately reported.
    • Participation in Audits, co-ordinate for the Division.
    • Review Information for Annual Statutory Reporting.
    • Identify and Implement system and process Improvements.
    • Manage and Develop 1 x Management Accountant.

    Technical Skills and Experience,

    • CIMA/ACCA or similar accounting qualification
    • Relevant experience of working in a senior accounting role.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Numerate with a high attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to work quickly, accurately and to deadlines.
    • Computer literate. Proficient in MS Office applications, particularly in EXCEL.
    • Ability to devise solutions and to work around challenges.
    • Ability to prioritise and effectively organise multiple tasks.
    • Discrete, used to dealing with highly confidential information.
    • Construction Industry experience is advantageous (desired)
    • COINS ERP (desired)
