An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Active Lifestyles Instructor to join the Move Imperial Department in their state-of-the-art sports centre facility, _Ethos,_ based in the heart of South Kensington.
The role is to provide quality levels of customer service to our facility users and to support them with any fitness or health goals they may have.
You will support the Active Lifestyles Team to deliver fitness, health or wellbeing related activities across all our sites throughout the year.
Duties and responsibilities:
- To encourage and support users to make the most of our services to meet their fitness, health or wellbeing goals and maintain supervision, control and safety of users
- Support the Active Lifestyles Team in delivering key health and wellbeing initiatives throughout the year
- Ensure the gym equipment is maintained to a high standard via daily cleaning and equipment checks, reporting any faults buildings, furniture and equipment to the management team
- Deliver group fitness classes and attend courses and seminars as and when required
- Working with Sport Imperial staff to deliver a complete and successful programme of activities and events, to include 121 delivery of programmes and sessions
- To carry out basic administrative duties and reporting
- Respond to general enquiries in person on the gym floor or through the online ticket system
- Undertake all work in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act and any other relevant legislation and codes of practice
Essential requirements:
- Minimum of a recognised REPS Level 3 Fitness Qualification or equivalent
- Experience of delivering group fitness classes and working in the leisure industry
- Experience of delivering a high level of customer services
- Knowledge and experience of functional sessions
- Understanding of Equal Opportunities within the context of a student leisure environment
- Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
- Ability to direct and supervise users in the safe use of the gym
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with a range of people
- Good administrative/organisational skills and ability to manage own time and prioritise tasks
- Good understanding and experience of using Microsoft tools
This opportunity will make the most of your experience and interest if you have been in roles or completed qualifications within: Fitness/Gym instructor, group fitness instructing, personal training, recent sport science graduate.

Contract Details:
- Grade: Operational Services / Level 1b
- Salary: £25,185£28,163
- Contracts: 1 x Full time, Permanent
- 37 hours per week, 5 days out of 7 on a rota shift pattern. Shift patterns will comprise, early, mid and late shifts. The earliest start is 06:30 and the latest a shift will finish is 22:30
- Location: Ethos Sport Centre Imperial College London and operating hours:
- 07:0022:00 Monday to Friday
- 08:0020:00 Saturday/Sunday
