Job description:

This role is within the Digital Services and Technical department of the Vehicle Certification Agency.

The Head of Technology Operations reports directly to the Chief Digital Information Officer and is responsible for Service Desk, Service Management, and Infrastructure Operations, supporting approximately 500 devices and around 300 end users.


The role is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the function as well as planning and implementation of future initiatives to ensure VCA is maximising value of technology.


Responsibilities

  • Include but not limited to:_
  • Management of six staff supporting 300 users across three locations in the UK and a number of overseas offices
  • Management of infrastructure support, covering cloud (Azure) services, local and wide area networks
  • Management of 1st and 2nd line support function
  • Ongoing development of service management processes, practices and tooling
  • Ongoing development of governance and assurance processes and change processes
  • Resource tracking and planning for all in scope services, covering business as usual and project activities
  • Leading operational planning, including prioritisation of activities and resources
  • Providing leadership and direction for technology services
  • Developing and driving cultural and business change to modern ways of working.

Person specification:

You will possess excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

You will possess experience of managing IT operations, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling and developing.

You will have a track record of leading complex IT operations.

You will have experience and knowledge around ITIL and service management.

You will have experience of budget management and forecasting.

You will have of experience of working within a multi-disciplinary technology/digital function including change management and enterprise architecture.


Additional Information
Office locations for the role will either be Bristol or Nuneaton.

There will be a small amount of travel required between offices and there may be the opportunity to travel overseas.
