    An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team as a B6 senior radiographer assisting the GP X-Ray Imaging service.

    We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic HCPC registered Radiographer to join our dynamic senior imaging team at UHPT.

    Applications are welcomed from radiographers with demonstrable post graduate experience within an NHS acute setting as a general radiographer with proven excellent clinical knowledge of all aspects of radiography.


    The GP X-Ray Imaging Service at UHPT encompasses six peripheral imaging units, over a wide geographical area, as well as on site provision at Derriford Hospital.

    This role assists the Lead Radiographer to oversee an effective service line framework of Clinical Governance throughout the X-Ray modality remit.


    Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.
    To deliver a high quality, effective and efficient radiographic service to the highest professional standards.

    To become actively involved within the X-Ray modality where you will carry out duties commensurate with a senior radiographic post within the service.

    To support an Agenda for Change compliant 24-hour 7-day roster, including bank/public holidays as required by the needs to the service including rotation to peripheral sites.

    To support the Area Lead Radiographer in planning, co-coordinating, delivering, developing and evaluating the GP X-Ray Imaging service provided to patients attending all UHPT Imaging sites on a day-to-day basis.

    To support the Area Lead Radiographer in delivering a robust and effective Clinical Governance framework throughout the modality remit.

    Contribute to the day to day running of the specialist area and modality by planning, organising and prioritising the workload thus ensuring an efficient and effective throughput of patients.

    Respond to the changing needs of the service daily by providing a flexible approach to the working day, thus maintaining the existing excellent standard of service and the continuing promotion of good working relationships.

    Interpret and follow local and Trust Policies and Procedures, following accepted protocols and professional codes of conduct to manage own and departmental workload.

    Support and enhance the continual quality initiative and ensure a quality first approach to all aspects of work despite the pressures of time and volume of workload.

    Be responsible for evaluating and maintaining the standard of work produced in your area ensuring it is of a high quality and taking corrective action where there may be problems.

    Liaising with medical physics experts as appropriate thus ensuring that equipment is safe to use for both staff and patients.

    Assess the Radiation risk to the patient and ensure it is kept as low as reasonably practicable (the ALARP principle).

    You will be expected to query an examination if you believe clinical indications require it, giving advice to more junior members of staff where needed.

    Ability to interpret the Trust's policy on Violence and Aggression in order to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues
    oDemonstrable postgraduate experience as a general radiographer and sound clinical proven knowledge of radiography.

    oProven ability to employ manual handling techniques, with and without mechanical aids, both within the department and on wards and in theatre.

    oComputer literate, confident in the use of Microsoft Word, databases, presentation software and to evaluate data and produce reports using Microsoft Excel

    oProven awareness of NHS policies and documents.
    oDemonstrable experience of planning and organising complex activities requiring the formulation and adjustment of plans.

    BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent.
    oStudent assessor qualification/training
    oPost graduate qualification linked to your specialist area, or willingness to obtain one.
