Head of Operations - £210pd - £240pd - South East London

Start ASAP for six months initially, potential temp to perm opportunity

Hybrid role - three days office based in South East London, remaining days remote


We are currently recruiting for a
Head of Operations with experience in the Higher Education sectorto join one of London's leading Universities.


_In order to be consider for this post, you MUST have previous experience in the Higher Education sector in an Operations Management post.

This role is responsible for the establishment of a new Operations Model which will comprise a new Service Centre and the Recruitment Team.

The Operations Team will be the front face of the Department, with responsibility for all ensuring administrationof recruitment, to on-boarding and employment contractual changes are managed effectively and efficiently and that all systems and records are maintained and accurate.


The Shared Service Centre will be the first point of contact for enquiries on terms and conditions of employment, initial scoping of casework, policy and practice and contractual changes.


The role holder will work closely with the Head of Analytics and Head of Payroll to streamline administrative processes, optimise self-service functionality and workflows, improve the customer experience and improve data quality.


MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To manage, lead and develop the Recruitment and Service Team to ensure a high level of customer service, accuracy and compliance with Service Level Agreements.
  • Oversee the administration of hourly paid lecturer contracts.
  • To contribute to the development of KPI's and Dashboards and the use of analytics to improve the services delivered to the college and monitor progress against EDI objectives.
  • Support the Director with senior management appointments including attendance at interview panels and administering assessments.
  • In collaboration with the Equality Team support the rollout of recruitment initiatives to support the EDI strategy.
  • Oversee the delivery of HERA job evaluation.
  • Undertake ad hoc project work as required by the Director.
  • Collaborate with the Business Partnering Team to improve the customer experience and contribute to policy development.
  • Engage with customers to monitor and improve the customer experience and deliver a more effective and efficient service across the College.
  • Manage the key relationship between Payroll and the department, and ensure a truly seamless experiences for all stakeholders.
  • Act as lead for operationalising changes to process and procedures.
  • Collaborate and engage with other teams and departments as required to inform data management and continuous improvement.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Experience of supervising operational HR activities in either a shared service centre, HR Operations team or Recruitment Team.
  • Experience across in one of the following areas (Resourcing & Recruitment, HR Administration, Information Systems and Administration).
  • Experience of using an HR database
  • Line management experience.
  • Experience of working in Higher education.
  • Awareness of HESA return.
  • Good knowledge of employment law in regard to employee relations, employment rights, change management, health and safety, UKVI, GDPR, disclosure and barring service and equality and diversity.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to build relationships with managers to influence, support and advise.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team to deliver continuous improvement to customer service.
