Description

Job Purpose
To process new and existing claims through negotiation with all interested parties to achieve settlement.


General

  • Communicating via telephone (incoming and outbound calls) and written correspondence with policyholder, keeping them updated of all material developments, witnesses, salvage and vehicle recovery companies, engineers, insurers, uninsured loss companies, hire companies, vehicle repairers, solicitors, compensation recovery unit, Police authorities and third parties to bring about resolution of claims.
  • Validation of claim ensuring policy is operational.
  • Realistic inputting and prompt updating of claims reserves on to claims systems.
  • To make effective use of diary system within the claims system to maintain proactive approach to claims handling.
  • To ensure each claim is dealt with in line with company/departmental procedure/philosophy and within service standards through to settlement stage in line with personal authorities.
  • Claims data input work as required using specified claims systems, Microsoft Word, Excel.
  • Interface with relevant claims units and departments within the company.
  • Handling scheme claims within agreed terms and notifying scheme insurer were required.

Theft and Total Loss

As General plus:


  • To process settlement of total loss claims.
  • To process settlement of theft claims.
  • Validation of repair estimates and engineers reports and adjusting reserves accordingly.
  • Validation and payment of repair accounts. Payment issued to repairing garages.
  • Validation of vehicle documentation supplied by the policyholder following a loss.
  • Payment of total loss/theft claims as per policy conditions to policyholder or/and finance company as required.
  • To ensure total loss vehicles are registered on to the MIAFTR (Motor Insurers Anti Fraud and Theft Register) making relevant enquiries with insurers showing previous matches.
  • Instructing and liasing with appointed agents for foreign claims.

Recovery

As General plus:

  • Tracing, by way of telephone, DVLA enquiries or written enquiries, of fault parties ensuring insurer details are obtained.
  • Contacting the third party or thirdparty insurer by way of telephone and written correspondence to secure an admission of liability and/or recovery of subrogated losses.
  • To liase with insured uninsured loss representative during the recovery process ensuring good communication at all times.
  • Maintaining portfolio by dealing with telephone calls, incoming correspondence, and diary to ensure case is up to date.
  • Making payments in respect repair accounts, hire accounts, agreed settlement figures, agreed solicitors' costs, own agents' fees and own solicitors costs
  • Making decisions on liability, admitting, disputing, or negotiating split settlements
  • Instructing and liasing with appointed agents for foreign claims

Third Party Property Damage

As General plus:

  • To identify and offer services to third parties in respect of intervention.
  • To deal with an agreed case load of claims under personal authority.
  • Making decisions on liability, admitting, disputing, or negotiating split settlements
  • Making payments in respect repair accounts, hire accounts, agreed settlement figures, agreed third party insurer outlay, own agents' fees and own solicitors' costs
  • Instructing and liasing with appointed agents for foreign claims
  • Maintaining portfolio by dealing with telephone calls, incoming correspondence, and diary to ensure case is up to date.
  • To identify, through use of specific identification criteria, and refer to the Technical Claims Supervisor claims involving personal injury.
  • To identify, through use of specific identification criteria, and refer to the Technical Claims Supervisor claims in which fraud is suspected.
  • Instructing and liasing with appointed agents for foreign claims.

£25,000.00-£26,000.00 per year
