About the Role


The Head of IT will play a key role in shaping the future of IT, ensuring that the organisation is equipped with the technology required to deliver to our customers and maintain high levels of data security and business continuity for a fast-growing SME in the Defence sector.


Responsibilities:


  • Create the IT department's strategy.
  • Proactively propose, define, and manage plans to update and upgrade software and hardware across the organisation on a regular basis.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders within the organisation, ensuring that IT change initiatives are aligned with business strategy/requirements and are delivered in a timely and effective manner.
  • Manage and negotiate with various thirdparty vendors/suppliers.
  • Plan and facilitate internal/external audits (e.g CE and CE plus accreditation).
  • Manage and enhance Cyber Security policy & infrastructure.
  • Ensuring IT systems are supported and systems meet business requirements.

About You

Qualifications:

An IT-related degree would be advantageous but is not essential.

Skills and competencies

  • Extensive experience in the IT services sector.
  • Proven experience leading IT change management.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
  • Ability to develop and implement a technology strategy
  • Experience of leading projects including the handson rollout of various IT technology products and infrastructure
  • Exposure to MOD/Defence IT infrastructure an advantage
  • Leading business transformation
Personal Attributes

  • Must be a British Citizen or have an existing right to work in the UK
  • Ability to hold Security Clearance 5 years residence in the UK
  • Clear communicator and ability to brief nontechnical members of the senior team
