LHH are assisting our client, a leading facilities management group, in their search for an experienced construction litigation solicitor. Joining their collegiate and sizeable in-house team as Senior Legal Counsel / Legal Counsel (depending on PQE), you'll act as the primary advisor on a broad-range of contentious construction matters.

Supported by the Head of Legal and wider team (incl. those with robust non-contentious experience), your key responsibilities will include:

    • Leading on a broad-range of construction-related matters, from early stage advisory work for bad debt all the through to acting against insolvent contractors and adjudication on major litigated cases
    • Drafting correspondence during early stages of a dispute, assessing evidence, risk and discussing strategy with relevant business divisions.
    • Involvement in settlement discussions, without prejudice meetings and dispute resolution.
    • Instruct and manage external legal advisors when commercially appropriate.
    • Work collaboratively with the wider in-house legal. Providing support and training on best practice when required.

    Desired Skills and Qualifications:

    • Qualified solicitor with substantial and relevant PQE handling a broad-range of contentious construction matters (roughly 3-7 years, although candidates either side of this range are encouraged to apply).
    • Sound understanding of processes surrounding construction litigation.
    • Excellent influencing and communication skills.
    • Ability to work autonomously and make sound legal judgments.
    • Prior experience in-house is preferred, but certainly not essential.

This role offers flexible working - whilst offices are in Manchester, candidates who are happy to travel from time-to-time are encouraged to apply. The opportunity is suitably remunerated in line with the North West market and offers a well-rounded compensation package.

If you are a construction litigator seeking to either move in-house and/or join a complex, robust and expanding organisation, we'd be delighted to discuss further. To apply, please submit your updated CV or reach out to Beth Hancock for a confidential conversation.
