An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time band 6 registered nurse to join a team of Specialist Screening Practitioners (SSPs) to deliver a high quality, effective and forward thinking and expanding screening service.
The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of care to the screening population identified by the screening programme across multiple sites in Nottinghamshire.
You will also get the opportunity to be actively involved in the screening centre health promotion strategy to improve patient outcomes for our local population.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required to maintain and develop relationships within a wide range of internal and external contacts.
The successful applicant will be expected to complete the Screening Practitioner's course at Liverpool John Moores University within the first 12 months of coming into post - This is a mandatory requirement for the role and includes a residential element.
The post holder will be a first level registered nurse with evidence of post registration experience and professional development. A postgraduate qualification or relevant specialist knowledge and skills to degree level or equivalent in lower gastrointestinal disease, colorectal and/or cancer pathways and knowledge of endoscopy is desirable
The ability to be flexible & organised in the workplace with a passion for delivering a quality and successful service is essential.
We are looking for a committed, enthusiastic, innovative and flexible individual with the ability to prioritise a potentially demanding and diverse workflow and to work on his/her own initiative and as a member of a growing team.
As the service delivers screening across two Trusts: Nottingham University Hospitals Trust and Sherwood Forest Hospitals Trust, a full clean UK driving license, willingness and ability to travel between sites, and own transport is essential.
The Nottinghamshire Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (NBCSP) is hosted by Nottingham University Hospitals Trust (NUHT) with Sherwood Forest Hospitals Trust (SFHT) working in partnership to provide the service to Nottinghamshire.
This requires the post holder to have the ability and willingness to travel between sites and therefore the use of your own transport is essential.
The aim of the NHS BCSP is to reduce mortality from colorectal cancer within the Screening population.
The hours of work at present will be Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am and 7pm to suit the needs of the service.
There may be occasions where you need to come in early or stay late so the ability to be flexible is essential.
The service is expanding and the service may, in future, make a change to include working evening and weekends to meet the service demands and accessibility requirements of the patient demographic.
This may involve the ability to work until 9pm and weekends may be required in the future, however this is in early stages of planning.
