Job summary:

We are looking for one finance professional with a wealth of experience in Management Accounting.


You should be able to proactively create and maintain positive, professional and trusting working relationships with a wide range of people within and outside the organisation.

You will be motivated by identifying connections and reaching out to bring people together.

Forming part of the Defence Nuclear team, you will support the leadership of the DNO finance function, who are responsible for finance staff across our three locations (London, Bristol and Aldermaston).

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.


Job description:


  • Produce instructions for completion of monthly IYM activities, outlining agreed internal timelines for completion taking into account Strategic Head Office requirements.
  • Deliver the required information ensuring outputs are accurate, timely and meet the expected standards.
  • Ensure month end activities are completed in compliance with relevant internal and wider government policy and a robust audit trail maintained.
  • Manage the input of budget profiles into corporate reporting systems, validating these are sufficiently robust to form the baseline for future progress measurement.
  • Review and challenge the monthly forecast submissions from the Management Groups within DNO
  • Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA), Warhead (WH), TLB Plan and Lochner, including the accuracy of forecasting against YTD actuals.
  • Attend the SDA's monthly forecast reviews meetings.
  • Attend cross TLB working groups as appropriate.
  • Establish and ensure effective controls are in place to maintain accuracy of data in financial systems and provide assurance on integrity of information on financial systems.
  • Managing issues highlighted during internal or external audit, engaging relevant stakeholders to enable corrective action. Promptly addressing any misinterpretation of guidance, sharing with team members to promote embedding the lesson(s) learnt.
  • Management of team members, empowering, motivating and coaching to enable effective delivery.
