- To lead, plan and have overall responsibility for the highways and transport department, ensuring the development and continuous improvement in all aspects of the service.
- Take point on the delivery and development of the councils highways capital programme and major projects and ensure agreed outcomes are met.
- Ensure the councils strategy duties in local highway, traffic and street authority are discharged.
- Provide innovative solutions to how the council can meet current government guidelines, whilst also producing the Councils Highway Asset Management Plan.
- In-depth knowledge of council's statutory obligations for this service, including; Traffic Management Act, Highways Act, New Roads & Street Works Act, Road Traffic Act and Countryside & Rights of Way Act.
- A proven track record of operating at this level within local government highways and transport.
- An ability to manage high profile projects and priorities, whilst able to successfully lead teams and departments.
