Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellow in Oncogenetics within the Cancer Genetics Unit at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.

This post will be available fromSeptember 2023 to September 2024.

The post-holder is expected to maintain an educational record and will be assessed by the Oncogenetic consultants.

Specific training will be offered in the latest standards required for Good Clinical Practice in research.

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust has an international reputation for high quality patient care, education and research.

Its partnership with the Institute of Cancer Research has created the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Europe and is the only institution to be designated a National Biomedical Research Centre for Cancer.


The successful applicant may have contact with vulnerable service users and we will therefore seek proof of being fully vaccinated or exemption during the recruitment process.

The post-holder will play an integral part of the day to day running of the Cancer Genetics Unit.


Duties include:


  • CLINICAL DUTIES
  • Regular clinics
  • Close liaison with genetic counsellors
  • Attend weekly MDT and unit teaching
  • Attend Molecular Tumour Board and Genomic Laboratory Hub variant meetings
  • RESEARCH
  • Recruitment of patients to clinical trials, consent, screening, toxicity assessment and safety reporting
  • Work on inhouse research projects, audits and service evaluations as discussed with team consultants
  • Liaise closely with research nursing staff
  • Preparation of manuscripts for publication
  • TEACHING
  • SHO teaching
  • Teaching for research nurse and clinical nurse specialist study days
  • Provide education sessions for external groups/interested parties
