Akton recruitment has an exciting opportunity for a Social Work Coordinator to join the admin team at the Islington Council.

Job Role - Social Work Coordinator
The Children Looked After teams are well resourced and enjoy a stable and supportive workforce.

You will be joining a multi-professional team made up of experienced managers, Senior Social Workers, Social Workers, Young Person Advisors, Mental Health Social Worker, CAMHS professionals, a UASC specialist and Social Work Coordinators.

Islington ChildrenSocial Care was rated by OFSTED as Outstanding in March 2020 and in October 2023 our service received a focused visit from OFSTED looking at the Local Authority's arrangements for care experienced children and young people (care leavers).

Social Work Coordinator (SWC) is a para-professional whose primary function is to provide enhanced administrative support in meeting the demands of frontline practice.

This practical support is critical in ensuring the child and family social worker's timeis used to best effect in helping families to keep children safe.

This requires a high level of understanding of a child and family social worker's job in helping families to safeguard children.

SWC are the first point of contact for the team by service users,other staff and professionals.

As an experienced administrator the SWC is expected to anticipate the planning and preparation necessary ahead of the range of meetings that take place with families and professionals and be instrumental in ensuring these meetingsare coordinated.

The SWC is also expected to help the social workers they support stay organised in managing their workload.

They manage the team calendar, which shows all meetings for the team so they will be able to help social workers prioritise their tasks,they also provide the teams performance reports to managers and workers and maintain records of workers caseloads.

Child and family social work is dynamic and responsive to both the local and national landscape, and the SWC must be flexible also adapt to changeswithin the organisation and to the presenting needs of the individual team.
