Description

We are looking a finance professional to deliver an outstanding finance business partnering service to our stakeholders in Accommodation, Catering and Events (ACE).


The Opportunity:


Accommodation, Catering and Events (formerly Accommodation Services) provides catered and self-catered residential accommodation for over 10,500 students, including community and welfare support through its Residence Life service.

We also operate 21 cafes and a range of other catering products to students and staff across the University estate.

Under our commercial brand, The University of Edinburgh Hospitality and Events Collection, we deliver hotel accommodation options to around 200,000 guests each year plus an extensive selection of conference, catering and event services to over 2,000 events.


Finance Business Partners work closely with senior management teams providing strategic insight, analysis and advice to deliver sustainable financial performance aligned with the University's 2030 Strategy.


The team at ACE work with colleagues in all operational areas including Student Accommodation, Commercial Accommodation (Hotels and Seasonal), Catering, Events and Nurseries.

Reporting and Forecasting is conducted across two statutory companies; the University of Edinburgh and the commercial subsidiary University of Edinburgh Accommodation Limited.


This post is open ended (permanent) and full-time (35 hours per week), however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns.

We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.


Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Be a part-qualified or newly qualified accountant, preferably with a degree or HND in a relevant discipline with relevant experience including some team leadership or management.
  • Experience of managing projects and budgets and providing insightful analysis and advice to stakeholders
  • Proven written and oral communication skills and the ability to explain finance concepts and the implications of financial decision to stakeholders
  • Good interpersonal and time management skills and able to influence others Selfmotivated and able to work independently and collaboratively to manage activities and projects
