The post holder is responsible for the support & development of individuals within technical services to meet regulatory and departmental training requirements and personal development.


The post holder will be a lead specialist in training and development in the Technical Services; responsible for the management, development, delivery and improvement of education & training systems in the Production department.

Education and training responsibilities include all areas relating to technical knowledge, practical skills, management skills, GMP and national guidance.

The post holder will be expected to be an NVQ Assessor.

  • RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE CO-ORDINATION AND DELIVERY OF TRAINING
  • To identify the training needs of individual members of staff and / or specific grades of staff and look at the most appropriate ways of delivering these needs by taking into account skills and capability of staff.
  • To deliver training using a variety of teaching and learning methods.
  • To monitor and support section heads in the delivery of training and education.
  • To be responsible for facilitating regular GMP training sessions for Production and Quality Control staff.
  • To arrange feedback by staff following attendance at external training courses and presentations.
  • To deliver training to staff external to production when they are required to work in production e.g. clinical trials and Quality Control staff.
  • In liaison with the Chief Technician, Education and Training, manage the training and assessment of NVQ level 2 and level 3 trainees in Production.
  • To be an NVQ assessor and participate in the assessment of NVQ level 2 and level 3 trainees in Production.
  • To ensure all staff working in Production are compliant with their Trust MaST requirements.
  • To ensure that all new Production staff complete Trust induction and departmental induction.
  • RESPONSIBILITY FOR MAINTAINING DEPARTMENTAL TRAINING AND RE-ACCREDITATION RECORDS.
  • To be responsible for updating and maintain all master training and accreditation records.
  • To be responsible for updating and maintaining all personnel validation records. To be responsible for setting up training folders for new staff. To be responsible for developing an electronic system to capture all training information and provide reports to individuals and managers when requested.
  • To be responsible for ensuring staff carry out Operator Broth Transfer Validation at induction and every six months and records are kept.
  • To be responsible for managing the production staff accreditation records and ensuring section managers are informed three months in advance of when staff are due for reaccreditation.
  • To be responsible for ensuring all training is recorded and filed in staff training folders.
  • To monitor and support other staff in the delivery of training and accreditation.
  • To ensure all staff and managers attend relevant trust mandatory training.
  • To report noncompliances to appropriate section leads or managers.
  • RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF TRAINING POLICY
  • To develop and write policies and procedures for training and development of Production staff.
  • To develop and maintain Training Modules, liaising with the Chief Pharmacy Technician for education and training in ensuring the department training modules fit with other departmental education systems.
  • To be aware of national developments for the training, accreditation and professional development of staff of all grades working in production. To attend national meetings / training sessions and to present content to other senior staff for discussion of professional development to be introduced.
  • To identify the best ways to deliver training, develop and manage the delivery of training.
  • To develop and coordinate GMP training for all grades of staff and ensure they are kept up to date with updates in this field.
  • To develop and write policies and procedures for training and development. To ensure the procedures are kept up to date for the training system and where training systems interact with other departmental procedures.
  • To update documentation when new procedures make this necessary.
