Job summary:


Are you a highly motivated and organised individual who is passionate about making a difference? As the Air Staff Officer you will be part of the Air Department team who are responsible for providing a Safe Operating Environment at Royal Naval Air Stations Culdrose and Predannack with provision of support to HMS Gannet.


As a member of the team you will have Line Management responsibilities, be the lead for work experience and manage the administrative activities required for the role.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.


Job description:


  • Central Role: To act as prime point of contact for the Air Department and manage the administrative task, including: the production of Temporary Air Memoranda, coordination of Duty Rosters, maintaining Recall Lists, coordinating Cdr (A&T) commitments including rounds responsibilities, and the discharge of Staff Office functions.
  • Line Management: To act as the LM to Air Operations Assistants and the Community Engagement Officer.

Personnel Reporting:

OJAR Administrator, Initiate/coordinate the OJAR requirements for Air Dept, 700X, NFSF, Logs, Med, Exec and Dental and co-ordinate with Staff Officers in 1700Sqn and RNSFDO.

JPA Unit Establishment Administrator.

  • Information Management: To act as the Information Support Officer. First point of contact for IT requirements and access. IHub Focal point for dissemination of all IT initiatives and updates.
  • Finance: To act as Budget Manager and Travel Budget Controller, Coordinate Budget Forecast, and monitor inyear spend for three UIN's, namely Air Traffic (encompassing the Fire Station and Wildlife Control), Meteorological and Air Department Management areas. And to ensure the CU Budget Manager is sent all budgetary information to in a timely manner.
  • Station-

Wide Responsibilities:

To lead the Station Work Experience (WEX) programme, and act as liaison with County Council and local schools and colleges.


  • Other tasks as required by Cdr A&T and Lt Cdr (Flying).

Person specification:


The following experience is essential for the role:

  • Experience working in an administrative role
  • Experience in the use of MS Teams
  • Experience and proficiency using MS Office to a high standard
  • Experience working with managers at all levels
